In the first ever Zillow Digs Design Awards we pitted four home designs against each other across five different categories, and you voted these Midwestern styles supreme.

Each of the 20 home designs received the most digs, or popularity votes, on Zillow Digs during the month of August. Your top selections made it to this regional polling round. Did your favorite home designs from the Midwest prevail?

All five winners advanced to the national competition for head-to-head battles against your favorite SouthWest and Northeast designs. Your votes determined the year's top designs for kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and patio spaces.

Kitchen

The obvious standout in the kitchen category was style No. 2 by Michael Abraham Architecture. The traditional kitchen captured 44 percent of your votes. The sleek design includes traditional features such as the long island and marble counter tops coupled with mid-century elements of the floor-to-ceiling windows and low-slung furniture. Only design No. 1 by Engler Studio came close in competition (25 percent of votes) which shared a similar overall look.

Living Room

Your votes led to a landslide winner for living rooms: style No. 1 by Dan Rak Design. The contemporary design finished with 67 percent of your votes. Notice the bold hue on the ceiling paired with crisp white crown molding. The wallpaper, stained wood flooring, throw rug and pillows all tie in the same gray color while introducing dynamic textures for a well-rounded design.

Bedroom

It was a closer race for your favorite bedroom design, but style No. 2 dominated with 38 percent of the votes. Engler Studio's traditional bedroom is both masculine and sophisticated with bold, dark colors combined with a well-lit window seat, classic bedside lamps and comfy carpeting. Design No. 3 by LG Interiors was a close runner up with 30 percent of the votes and a much more romantic ambiance including a candlestick chandelier and mirrored wall.

Bathroom

The overwhelming favorite for bathroom designs was style No. 3 by Lugbill Designs, holding 49 percent of your votes. The contemporary, open layout blends a double sink cabinet, vanity space and deluxe shower with a rain shower head and handheld showerhead. Although spacious, the ambience is warm with soft lighting and off-white tile finishes.

Patio

More than half of the votes (53 percent) went to style No. 2 as the top Midwest patio space. Maverick Landscaping's rustic design boasts a stocked outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning oven, grill, sink and other appliances. The inviting patio includes two tables, glowing lights and an intimate, overhead trellis.
