In the first ever Zillow Digs Design Awards we pitted four home designs against each other across five different categories, and you voted for these Northeastern champs.
Each of the 20 home designs received the most digs, or popularity votes, on Zillow Digs during the month of August. Your top selections made it to this regional polling round. Did your favorite home designs from the Northeast prevail?
All five winners advanced to the national competition for head-to-head battles against your favorite South, West and Midwest designs. Your votes determined the year's top designs for kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and patio spaces.
Kitchen
Design No. 1 won by a landslide with 74 percent of your votes. Clearly, the popular trend in the Northeast includes stark white countertops and cabinets with pendant lighting and a u-shaped layout. Nancy Serafini Interior Design's traditional kitchen took the design a step farther with built-in, glass-front cabinets, fresh plants and tons of light.
Living Room
It was a battle for the win in the living room category between two opposing designs. Design No. 4 by Kellie Burke Interiors snagged the lead with 36 percent of your votes. The eclectic design boasts bold black and white furnishings with pops of lime green, pink and a geometric patterned rug. The close runner-up was design No. 2 by Anita Clark Design with 30 percent of your votes. The contemporary design allowed the stunning view to be the focal point of the room with an open layout, subtle tones and natural, hardwood floors.
Bedroom
More than half of your votes favored design No. 3 (52 percent) by Rajni Alex Design. The eclectic space creates a soothing vibe with soft shades of white, cream, gold and gray. Notice the light fixture and lamps add daring texture without overpowering the tranquil bedroom, and the window seat enhances the welcoming ambiance.
Bathroom
You loved all the bathroom designs in the Northeast, but style No. 1 was your favorite. Clean Design's transitional space balanced traditional features such as double sinks, tiled floors and crown molding with contemporary finishes including a chandelier, hutch and frameless, glass-paneled shower. The finished bathroom's off-white hues glow under the twinkling light.
Patio/Deck
Design No. 2 was the standout in this patio competition, sweeping up 47 percent of your votes. Tracy Davis of Urban Dwelling designed the stunning coastline deck with simple features, avoiding distraction from the incredible setting and architecture. The luxury look includes resort-like lounge chairs, poolside towels and oversized lanterns to light the way.
